Barcelona President Laporta Opens Up On Lionel Messi Returning To The Club

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club is not considering bringing Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou.
After Messi’s controversial departure to PSG, Laporta also stated that he no longer speaks with him.

Last summer, Messi departed Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Barcelona teammates such as Pedri and Jordi Alba have been asking Messi to return to the Catalan club in the near future, but Laporta has now ruled out Messi’s return to the Catalan club as a player.

“It was not easy for me, I would have liked things to go differently, but as they happened, I thought of the institution first and I think we did what we had to do,” Laporta said on RAC1.

“We are not considering it. We are building a new team with young players, but he deserves respect.”

He added:

“I don’t speak with him, I don’t have fluid communication with him like before he left. We hear comments from people close to him… Barcelona pulls you a lot and when you leave you miss the city, Barça, he had a great life here.

“I felt worse for the personal and family side of things than the other, but also that.”
